Caribbean cruises itineraries

Most typical Caribbean cruises itineraries are seven days long, even though you can also find from five to eleven night Caribbean sailings. You can also find shorter 3- and 4-night cruises, though these often concentrate on port in the Bahamas (which are geographically not in the Caribbeans at all, though climate-wise they may as well be), and you can visit Nassau or Freeport or stopping at one of the cruise lines’ private Bahamian islands.

Caribbean cruises are among the most popular cruise destinations in the world. Caribbean, Mexican, and Bahamas voyages are offered year round from a number of departure ports and for voyages of varying lengths. Caribbean islands differ greatly in their variety of natural wonders, famous sites, and historical significance.

Caribbean cruises itineraries usually stick to one region of the Caribbean.

Eastern Caribbean Cruises are sailing to the eastern Caribbean mostly on seven day itineraries embarking from Florida. But for Eastern Caribbean Cruises you can get offers from a wide variety of six- to 10-day cruises. Eastern Caribbean typically calling on some combination of the Bahamas, U.S. Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico, and the St. Martin.

Western Caribbean Cruises operate year round because of the region’s temperate climate and usually the tour has Grand Cayman, Jamaica, Key West, either Cozumel/Playa del Carmen, Calica, or Costa Maya in Mexico, and occasionally ports in the Central American countries of Belize and Honduras.

Southern Caribbean Cruises are less defined, but are often departing from San Juan, Puerto Rico, and visiting Aruba, Curaçao, Barbados, St. Lucia, Antigua, and/or Grenada.

Small-ship cruises frequently visit the less-developed islands, mostly in the eastern and southern Caribbean, including the beautiful British Virgin Islands and ports such as St. Barts, Dominica, Nevis, and the tiny islands of the Grenadines. In addition to the usual Florida homeports (Miami, Ft. Lauderdale, Port Canaveral, and Tampa), Caribbean cruises are also sailing these days from San Juan, Puerto Rico; Galveston and Houston, Texas; Mobile, Alabama; Norfolk, Virginia; Charleston, South Carolina; New York, New York; and other ports. Smaller, more adventure-oriented lines offer Caribbean itineraries that depart from the Caribbean islands themselves (you fly to the island to catch the ship) and visit less-touristed ports.

Caribbean cruises itineraries feature great food, entertainment, interesting ports of call and fascinating tours of ancient remains and cultures along the way. Cruise lines sail in Caribbean region year-round; winter is the most popular season, and when you have the most of ships to choose from.
